So instead of doing another general life goal list for this year, I decided to make a list of things that we (I) want to do while we're living in California. Some of them are local to San Diego and some of them extend to the south western portion of America, some are touristy and some are unique, but they're all things I want to do in the next 3-4 years.
In no particular order, here is my list.
1. Hike to the Hollywood sign (or as close as we can get without being arrested)
2. Camp at Big Bear Lake
3. Visit Mexico
4. San Diego Zoo
5. Redwood Forest
6. Overnight hike part of the PCT
7. Learn to Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP)
8. Napa Valley
9. Yosemite
10. Hike to Cedar Creek Falls
11. La Jolla seacaves
12. Carlsbad Flower Festival
13. Children's Pool/Seal beach
14. Point Loma tide pools
15. La Jolla cliff/coast walk
16. Salvation Mountain
17. Watts Towers
18. Salton Sea
19. Nazi Camp
20. Hike at Torrey Pines
21. Hollywood walk of fame
22. Ride the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner
23. Ride the Marvin Braude Bike Trail (Santa Monica Pier & Venice beach)
24. Grand Canyon
25. Slots Canyons of Anza Borrego Desert State Park
26. Sand sculpture competition
27. Sunbathe on the beaches of the Hotel del Coronado
28. Take a surfing lesson
29. ?
30. ?
Have you done any of these? What would you scratch off this list, or what would you add?
Live a little - get arrested. ;)
ReplyDeleteA lot of those are on my list. I've got a few more in Northern Cali, but my in-laws live up there so it's a little easier. See if you can get the National Park pass for military. It's free to get in and you can use it at the Grand Canyon.
ReplyDeleteOh, and if you go to the Anza Borrego State Park, it's right next to the sculptures we saw last weekend.
ReplyDeleteHi Jess! I found your blog via the 30 X 30 challenge and have enjoyed reading about your adventures (I lived in southern Japan for two years.)
ReplyDeleteThe Getty Museum is one of my favorite places in Los Angeles if you make it up that way.
We stopped at the Grand Canyon on our PCS journey this summer. And I have to say, I was a little disappointed :( Although it was huge and pretty, the GC Park was so commercialized, so it didn't really feel like other National Parks that I had been to. But it's definitely something to do to say you've seen it! My parents when in February and they said it was WAY less crowded then and they were able to drive around more. (We had to park in a big parking lot and then wait for shuttle buses to go to different places) We went in July... and I don't recommend that!
ReplyDeleteMost of those things are on our SD bucket list, too! There's so much to do here! :)
So many of these are still on my list! I have an entire Adventure tab on my favorites when I find things. The damn list keeps growing faster than I can do stuff.
ReplyDeleteOf your list, I've done 18! (though, I've also lived in CA almost all my life, so I have a big head start). I still have yet to hike to the Hollywood sign, though (done plenty of other trails at Griffith Park, just not that one). Let me know if you want a local to go hiking with you. :)
ReplyDeleteYou have to go to Julian during October/November!
ReplyDeleteLots and lots of hiking!!
I wish I could remember what was on my San Diego bucket list when we lived there.
I can't wait to get to SoCal and do SUP lessons! It looks like a great workout.
ReplyDeleteThanks for cohosting Bloody Marys this week! :) now following you!

Visiting from the Bloody Mary Blog Hop -- Being a native Californian I would say you must add:
ReplyDelete~ Visit Mendocino, it's a beautiful little town with lots of quaint shops in Northern California on the coast.
~ Since you'll be somewhat close from Mendocino, travel up the coast to the Redwood Forest. It's beautiful and the trees are really stunning!
Have a great time crossing things off your list!
